This weekend’s movie (Dec 15-17) is our last one before taking a much needed break for Christmas. It is an epic I have been waiting for…. Napoleon. Note: All showings for this movie (Fri, Sat & Sun) will be at 8:00PM.
“Napoleon” is a spectacle-filled action epic that details the checkered rise and fall of the iconic French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte. Against a stunning backdrop of large-scale filmmaking, the film captures Bonaparte’s relentless journey to power through the prism of his addictive, volatile relationship with his one true love, Josephine, showcasing his visionary military and political tactics against some of the most dynamic practical battle sequences ever filmed.
The movie stars Joaquin Phoenix as the iconic Napoleon. Joaquin has done too many movies to list them all here, but some of his best roles have been as Joker, Johnny Cash and the Emperor Commodus in Gladiator. He is one the best actors of this generation.
Not only does Napoleon have amazing actors, it also has an incredible director in Ridley Scott. He has directed amazing films like Alien, Blade Runner, and The Martian. Among many other incredible films.
It’s reviews have been a little lackluster, with the biggest complaint being that it isn’t completely historically accurate. The positive reviews comment on how interesting the characters of Napoleon and Josephine are, and the epic battles that occur in the film.
One reviewer said, “Despite all the history, the battles and the politics, this movie stays on track as a personal story. This makes Napoleon and Josephine characters in the story who are easy to relate to, as well as being a strong focal point for the film.”
