The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes

If you want to get ready for this weekend, you may want to binge the Hunger Games movies on Netflix this week. (I checked, and they are on there.) We are showing The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes this weekend. Show times are Friday (Dec ðŸ˜Ž and Saturday (Dec 9) at 8:00PM and Sunday (Dec 10) at 2:00PM. Please NOTE that we are doing a Sunday matinee and NOT a Sunday evening show.

This is a prequel to the Hunger games and gives us the back story of President Snow — 64 years before Katniss Everdeen volunteered as tribute, and decades before Coriolanus Snow became the tyrannical President of Panem. THE HUNGER GAMES: THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS & SNAKES follows a young Coriolanus who is the last hope for his failing lineage, the once-proud Snow family that has fallen from grace in a post-war Capitol. With his livelihood threatened, Snow is reluctantly assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird, a tribute from the impoverished District 12. But after Lucy Gray’s charm captivates the audience of Panem, Snow sees an opportunity to shift their fates. With everything he has worked for hanging in the balance, Snow unites with Lucy Gray to turn the odds in their favor. Battling his instincts for both good and evil, Snow sets out on a race against time to survive and reveal if he will ultimately become a songbird or a snake.

Audiences reviews are 89% positive on rottentomatoes.com. I like what this person had to say, “I’m not even a fan of the series, but I found the movie to be engaging on its own. It’s a story of the rise of a villain, with whom I’m unfortunately able to relate substantially.”
