This weekend (March 8-10) we are racing to the finish line with Adam Driver (Kylo Ren from Star Wars) in Ferrari. Ferrari plays Friday @ 8:00PM, Saturday @ 8:00PM and Sunday @ 2:00PM.
You may not have heard of this film. It came out in late December, and was made by a small production studio. Therefore, it didn’t get the advertising that the big studio films get. I wanted to bring it to Falkon Theatre because I think this is a movie that deserves to be seen in the big screen. I can’t wait to see and hear the racing.
Ferrari is set during the summer of 1957. Behind the spectacle and danger of 1950’s Formula 1, ex-racer, Enzo Ferrari, is in crisis and bankruptcy stalks the company. Ferrari captures a period of Enzo’s life that is integral not only on a personal level but to the world of racing and cars in general.
Here is what is being said about Ferrari:
Ferrari transcends the traditional biopic, offering an introspective look at Enzo Ferrari’s life, making it both heartbreaking and delightful.
Michael Mann (director) excels in making us understand just how exciting and addictive racing can be, before pulling the rug out from under us to show us how badly it truly can get.
Penelope Cruz delivers a powerhouse performance as Laura Ferrari, commanding every scene she’s in and possibly delivering the best performance of her career.
Mann makes Ferrari a film about our uncontrollable passions and the things that drive us, even when we know they’re dangerous for us and others.
