Are you a Stephen King fan? Well, this weekend (March 14-16) we have a treat for you. We are going to be showing The Monkey based on a Stephen King story. Showtimes are Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 8:00PM.
When twin brothers find a mysterious wind-up monkey, a series of outrageous deaths tears their family apart. Twenty-five years later, the monkey begins a new killing spree, forcing the estranged siblings to confront the cursed toy.
Cruelly clever with some unforgettably gory set pieces, The Monkey reaffirms director Osgood Perkins’ horror bona fides while revealing he also has a surprising — albeit sick — sense of humor.
Rating: (Language Throughout | Gore | Some Sexual References | Strong Violent Content)
Runtime: 1h 38m
Here is what reviewer Richard Crouse had to say about it:
”Director Osgood Perkins channels his inner Sam “Evil Dead” Raimi, combining old school splatter with very dark humor. It makes for a giddy goodtime, especially as the kills get more and more slapsticky and outlandish.
“The Monkey” does feel stretched from its short story origins to feature film, but Perkins keeps the energy up and the storytelling efficient enough to warrant its 97-minute runtime.”
