Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes Poster

This weekend (June 28-30) at the Falkon Theatre, we will be showing Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. All showtimes (Friday, Saturday and Sunday are at 8:00PM)

Director Wes Ball breathes new life into the epic franchise set several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign, in which apes are the dominant species living harmoniously and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.

This movie has been doing really well at the box office and has gotten praise from critics and audiences. Including my son Noah Janzen who said it was “very good”. (He speaks about it on our 9th Podcast where you can catch a more in depth review.)

Movie critic Richard Crouse gave it 4 stars and had this to say, “It is, I suppose, ironic that “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” succeeds because of its humanity, but science fiction works best when its ideas, though presented in a speculative fashion, are reflective of the world in which they exist.”

Rating: PG-13 (Intense Sci-Fi Violence/Action)
