What do Deadpool and Corner Gas have in Common?

“What do Deadpool and Corner Gas have in common?” and what is happening at the Falkon Theatre.

A couple of weeks ago the representative for Adam ‘Tex’ Davis reached out to me to ask if Adam could be on our Falkon Theatre Podcast. Who is Adam ‘Tex ‘ Davis you ask? Well, I’m glad you asked. Let me explain.

Tex is a veteran screenwriter and producer, carrying a treasure trove of stories from Hollywood. His work spans thought-provoking series like Netflix’s Brainchild and he has an audience of over 1M listeners tuning into his podcasts (such as Slaycation). He has tales, from collaborating with Leonardo DiCaprio to uncanny encounters with personalities like John Wayne Gacy.

Right now, you are probably saying, “Well that’s neat, but what does it have to do with Deadpool and Corner Gas?”

Well, you see, Tex also wrote a little Christmas RomCom you might have heard of called Just Friends (2005) starring none other than Ryan Reynolds. If you’ve seen the movie then did you happen to recognize who his best friend is in the movie? It is an actor named Fred Ewanuick who plays Brent’s best friend Hank on Corner Gas. The movie has other Corner Gas actors like Cavan Cunningham. What you may not have known is that the movie Just Friends was partially filmed in Regina and Moose Jaw. And there is your connection between Deadpool and Corner Gas.

How is all of this related to the Falkon Theatre?

Well, first of all, Noah and I are going to have Tex on our next podcast. To say we are excited to talk to an actual Hollywood movie writer and producer is an understatement.

But secondly, I have booked Just Friends at the movie theatre for Tuesday December 17th at 8:00PM. This showing is being sponsored by Aurora Financial and the admission is free. On top of that, Adam has agreed to video foreword that we will be showing before the movie.

So make sure to tune into the next Falkon Theatre Podcast to hear from Tex and come to the theatre on Tuesday December 17th for the free showing of Tex’s Christmas RomCom Just Friends!
